1. What is PTFE?


Teflon is the ancestor of all fluoroplastics. It is the most unusual, showing the best performance in terms of temperature, chemical resistance and non-stick performance.


Its main disadvantage is that it does not melt when heated, so it is difficult to process and requires very unconventional techniques to mold, extrude and weld this fluoropolymer.

2.What is FEP?


FEP or fluorinated ethylene propylene is a polymer composed of hexafluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene, which is a melt-processable polymer. FEP is very similar to PTFE and PFA in composition.


FEP tube has excellent chemical resistance, low friction coefficient and very high working temperature of 200℃. It is softer than PTFE, but highly transparent and resistant to sunlight.


FEP is commonly used in laboratory piping applications, involving critical or highly corrosive processes. Other applications include automatic sampling, chromatography, medical equipment, high temperature cable insulation.



3.What is PFA?


Polyoxymethylene (PFA) or perfluoroalkoxy is a melt-processable fluoropolymer that can be injected, compressed and transferred.


PFA has most of the physical and chemical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene, but its stretch life is 10 times that of polytetrafluoroethylene, and its permeability is also low. The high temperature range of PFA is +260°C, it has excellent crack resistance and stress resistance, and low friction coefficient.


PFA is widely used in the semiconductor industry with high ion purity, excellent electrical properties and high operating temperature range. Typical products include insulating bushes, nozzles, o-rings, valves and pump bushings.



4. What are the differences between PTFE and FEP?



Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and FEP belong to a group of fluoroplastics called Teflon®, which are registered trademarks of Du Pont de Nemours.


Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and FEP have very similar properties. They are non-sticky, chemically inert, and are stable when working at extremely low and high temperatures.


The main differences between the two are:


(1) The working temperature range of PTFE is -200℃~+260℃.


(2) The working temperature range of FEP is -200℃~ +200℃.


(3) Polytetrafluoroethylene is opaque in color, while FEP is optically transparent.



5. How can I make the rubber stick not sticky?


By applying FEP heat shrinkable coating, the rubber roller is not sticky. Our FEP roll coating film is specially designed to fit most standard size rubber rolls. They are easy to apply and turn a standard rubber roller into a non-stick roller.


Our FEP roll sleeves are generally available in stock, you can apply them yourself, or we can provide coating and on-site installation services if needed.



6.Why is PTFE chemically corroded?


Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), FEP and PFA have excellent color properties, so they have excellent non-stick properties. However, this is a problem if you wish to combine these materials on a substrate.


By chemically etching polytetrafluoroethylene or other fluoropolymers, we can strip off the fluorine atoms to provide a suitable bonding surface.



7. Will PTFE, FEP and PFA become brittle at low temperatures?


No, all these fluoroplastics, including PFA, have an operating temperature range of -200°C. This temperature range will not embrittle the material.



8.Can you make PTFE tubes with similar tolerances?


Yes. If our standard tolerance PTFE, FEP and PFA pipes are not suitable for your special application, we can produce more stringent ID, outer diameter or wall thickness tolerances.

9.What is the largest size heat shrinkable tube you can produce?


There is no maximum size! The largest size in stock is 175mm. By using a special welding process, we can form heat shrink tubes of any diameter from plastic sheets.



10.Can you make super-thin wall PTFE tube to replace Zeus Inc.?


Yes, We have make 0.02 - 0.05mm wall PTFE tube and it meet medical grade.



11. Do you have a minimum order quantity?


Yes, for spot goods, our minimum order quantity is $10. However, we are happy to provide the following orders, but incurred a small order fee of $1.00.



12.Do you supply one-off or small batch?


Yes, we can provide any quantity of our standard products, and we are happy to provide one-time quantity. We only charge for the setup time that may be required.
