Nitrile Rubber, also known as Butadiene Acrylonitrile, Buna-N, Perbunan, or NBR rubber, originated in 1941 during a project aimed at developing an oil-resistant rubber. The resistance of NBR to oil and fuel is contingent upon the acrylonitrile grade used.
A higher acrylonitrile grade corresponds to enhanced oil and fuel resistance. However, increased acrylonitrile content leads to reduced tolerance for low temperatures. While NBR exhibits commendable abrasion resistance, its physical properties are moderately rated compared to Natural Rubber.
